Similar to people, dogs and cats feel pain too! Arthritis, injuries, surgery and disease can all be painful. Our doctors will work with you to establish an individual treatment plan for your pet. We use a wide range of pain medications, often in conjunction with nutraceuticals, chondroprotectants and therapeutic diets to assist in alleviating pain.
We are strong advocates for preemptive pain control. At our hospital, all animals undergoing surgery receive pain medication before and after the procedure. If needed, we will also prescribe pain medication to be administered at home following surgery. We also administer local nerve blocks (to block pain at the site before it starts) for many procedures such as spays and neuters, dental extractions and declaw surgeries.
