On-site Laboratory
We maintain a fully equipped on-site laboratory which allows us, if needed, to provide immediate results for most tests. Our laboratory service allow us to assess the following:
A CBC provides detailed information on red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets. This can be used to diagnose conditions such as anemia, infections, inflammation or bleeding problems
•Blood chemistry profiles
Comprehensive blood profiles provide critical information about organ function for the liver, pancreas and kidneys
•Complete Urinalysis
Examination of a urine sample not only allows us to check for infections involving the urinary tract but it is also an important test to help assess organ function
•Heartworm test

•Fecal parasite exam
Fecal exams are used to diagnose intestinal parasites such as roundworm, whipworm, hookworm, tapeworm, coccidia and giardia. Treatment of these parasites is particularly important as certain ones can be transmitted too and cause disease in people!
•Feline retroviral test
Feline leukemia and feline immunodeficiency virus are common infectious diseases that spread between cats. In the early stages of disease many cats do not show any clinical signs; however, these viruses ultimately cause life-threatening infections by suppressing the immune systems ability to respond. A simple blood test can help identify your cats viral status.
•Parvovirus test
Canine parvovirus is one of the most common and severe gastrointestinal diseases affecting dogs. The virus is extremely contagious and causes a very rapid decline in health.
•Cytology (lumps, skin, ears)
For your convenience, we also have the capabilities to examine samples taken from the skin, ears and fine needle biopsies of lumps, all while you wait. For more advanced histological and cytological testing we utilize an independent national veterinary laboratory service.
